The Role
It was a nice and friendly place to work, the people were helpful. There is a strong culture of being helpful and professional to each other. I am happy I did my placement here.
I felt my colleagues welcomed me into the team and treated me fairly. I was included in discussions and external activities.
There were a lot of training courses available to me which I was encouraged to sign up for. I was also given feedback regularly by my manager, telling me what I do well and what I could improve on.
My job was very cyclical, some months I had plenty of work to do and others I had very little to do. This does open the opportunity to take on additional projects and tasks, giving me experience to put on my CV.
I had a good amount of responsibility and was in charge of certain tasks. I felt like in some tasks I was treated slightly differently because I was an intern. But some of the projects I undertook required me to lead or teach courses, meaning it was my responsibility to get the job done.
For my studies, I learnt skills like: communication, work life balance, work load balance, analysis, team work etc... All these skills will make my course easier and simpler to manage. I also got a dissertation topic from this year. I did not gain any knowledge which would help me directly in my studies.
The Company
Quiet, professional. It was a nice friendly atmosphere where you could hear some people chatting and laughing. People were happy and it did'nt feel like there was a hostile edge to it
This relies a lot on the previous Intern, as that is the person who teaches you. Mine was not very organised but I learnt most things and I managed to transition into the role effectively.
There were a lot of training opportunities available to me. I felt that Intel invested heavily in me as if I was a full time employee.

Currently there is a hiring freeze in my department so I would say not very good. This of course depends on the current market situations and how well Intel is doing at the time of hiring.
The Culture
There is like 50 interns here so the social scene is very good I would say. It depends on who gets hired, but most people are nice and are up for doing stuff together.
Cost of living is low Swindon is very cheap. Rent varies between 250-450pm depending on what you want (450 being ensuite double room high quality). You only really socialise with the other Interns/colleagues.
Meh not great. there is like a couple of clubs and there are mostly empty (depending on the night). You will be able to go clubbing on a Thursday, but Bristol is your best bet.
Not really.
