The Role
I've had some great opportunities to try new things and learn about the 'world of work'.
There's a great feeling of community amongst the placement students. I feel valued by my team after proving myself on some smaller jobs.
Lots of education and opportunity to ask questions. I see my task manager every day and have at least one opportunity to speak to him. I see my Early Professional Manager and have the opportunity to organise a 1-on-1 chat with him about once a month.
When I first started I felt I had too much to do. Throughout the year the workload has got easier to balance, and sometimes I feel bored. Fridays I have barely anything to do.
At some points I was only organising calls and taking minutes, at some points I was responsible for quarter end targets being met.
They will not help me in my degree at all. They'll be very helpful once I leave uni and get a grad job.
The Company
Fridays are empty. Fun atmosphere if you're sat with students or have a good team. Otherwise it can feel pretty quiet and dull.
2 days 'training' and laptop setup, followed by about a month where the previous placement student teaches you how to do the job role. It is quite well structured and there are reviews every 3 months.
Not much. The company is unwilling to invest in you as you're only there for a year, therefore the only education you can get is free and available to all anyway.
Sports and Social Club
Company Parties/Events
I will be applying back for a graduate job and hope I will succeed.
The Culture
Lots of socials, everyone lives nearby and there's a good community, it's easy to find someone to hang out with.
Quite cheap, about the same as where I was at uni. Rent alone is around £350 a month (Leamington for Warwick office). Socialising is fine as there are two universities nearby so it's a student-y area if you avoid the posher parts.
Lots of students, few clubs and close to Birmingham.
I have done volunteering, socials, sports and maths tutoring.
