About You
I found the day extremely monotonous and tough to get through. Some of the speakers were very good, but there was also many who were uninspiring and didn't really promote their enthusiasm for the firm
I was initially rejected for the EY insight day and then received an email inviting me to one on a later date. Speaking to other students at programme, it seemed that all the students were unsuccessful applicants for numerous EY programmes but had progressed fairly far into the application process. Thus, not much time and effort was put into the programme and I rather just have been flat out rejected
There was some support and further insight on many grad and school lever/uni schemes avaliable to students which I found useful
There wasn't really an opportunity for networking, however, the assistance on psychometric testing was probably the most useful thing as these sorts of tests are intergral to most university and graduate placements in financial services
The Company
The insight was very structured but also very montonous, an opportunity for a tour was given but most of the day was spent in the same room listening to speaker after speaker which got monotonous
The general atmosphere was quite dull and uninspring due to the fact the placement took place in one single room without much scope for networking
n/a
There was some useful information on the university and graduate schemes which I would consider applying to despite the dull insight
The culture at EY is extremley corporate and they are unafraid to show it. This many be offputting to some, however this is expected at many like minded firms and would be nothing to stop me applying to it
It was quite difficult to get a sense of what exactly you would be doing at the firm, but there was a good general sense given of a career in financial services
Everything Else
As the Insight is only for a day, we were not given the opportunity to be reimbursed expenses
There was no networking
Surprsingly no networking opportunities were given
The standard activities such as gym, sports etc.
Perhaps because this was basically a 'rejection' day I would not recommend a friend who got the same invitation to go, however I cannot speak for the various programmes people applied to
