About You
One of the best work experience programmes I have ever done. Everyone is so friendly and there is plenty of interesting work to do rather than just the boring filing one would expect
I felt my work was valued and it was nice to see that some of the projects I worked on later appeared on the Sky website
Everyone was supportive and friendly from interns to managers and were able to answer any questions I had
I was able to use the placement to really develop my Excel skills which are so intergral to the careers I am interested in. Furthermore, the skills I learnt on these placement were easily transferrable with other placements I went on to do
The Company
A clear programme had been set out, however what I liked was how flexible the placement was to suit my interests and needs, it is all about asking
The atmosphere was really friendly and I felt welcomed. I was able to settle in quickly among my colleagues
The fact that one of my colleagues was prepared to sit down with me and go through Excel to really develop my skills really went above and beyond what I expected. Furthermore one of the managers also helped develop my interview skills which again what beyond what I expected and really helped for university and job interviews
I was able to go to meetings and was treated like a fellow colleague, thus able to understand the day to day roles
The company culture really shone on the placement and made it very attractive to want to work there in the future
Very valuable, it reaffirmed my interests for wanting to go into the financial industry
Everything Else
Sky offer a maximum £75 expense for the week which is paid regardless of your expenses. My expenses were less, so essentially I was paid a little bit too
I was able to go and visit other departments across finance as well as media which was very interesting
I was invited along to team meetings and a sports activity day which was really enjoyable and again different to other work experiences I had done
The standard activties such as gym and sport are avaliable to employees
Sky is such a vast and changing industry and there is plenty of scope to experience the different services which is why it is a perfect starting point for looking into finance
