The Role
I enjoyed working at Cummins, I feel there was a lot of opportunity for me to develop my professional and personal skills which will definitely be useful when I return to university.
My colleagues helped me a lot during my placement, but I also feel they trusted me to get on with my work.
Weekly 1:1's with my manager and Quarterly reviews ensured I kept on track.
It varied from day to day, some days could be slow but I would be given more work if I asked.
I was in charge of my own process, and lead projects but I always had support from my managers if I had any questions
It was a good experience of the real world environment
The Company
I worked in a quieter office then most of the other placement students, which had some positives and negatives. Although there was not the buzz of some busier offices, you can get work done whilst it is quite, but could still have a chat with the people in the office.
There is a good placement program at Cummins with external trainers and quarterly reviews to ensure we are developing
We had external training as well as opportunity to participate in Cummins Training with all other employees.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
Subsidised/Company Gym
Healthcare/Dental
There is a bursary program that means 10% of placements will have a guaranteed graduate role
The Culture
It is what you make it. There are 30 placement students all with different personalities but it could be social if you choose it to be.
It was not overly expensive, but was not the nicest of areas, if you wanted to go somewhere nicer ie. Canterbury it would cost more
Poor in Ramsgate if you like clubs but Canterbury is only a train ride away
Subsidised gym memberships etc.
