The Role
I really enjoyed my placement, I had the opportunity to work with a lot of very talented, interesting people and learnt a tremendous amount from them.
I felt very valued, placement students are treated like graduates at PwC and are respected as such.
The support from management is very strong, I was never afraid to ask questions to any member of staff no matter how silly it seemed.
Most of the time I was busy, although due the nature of our work sometimes too much work came in at once and sometimes none at all meaning I had varying amounts of work over the course of the year.
As I mentioned before, placement students are given the same level of responsibility as graduates, which from my experience is a lot of responsibility. This really helps to build your confidence as a new member of the firm
I think the technical skills I developed will really help me when I go back to university and also when I graduate. There are lots of training courses available to PwC staff if you go looking for them, especially in the larger offices (Belfast, London)
The Company
The atmosphere in Belfast was quite busy but normally so busy that people couldn't have a chat. The FTS department in Belfast have their own lab so it has a more familial feel to it as everyone knows each other very well.
The placement was organised fairly well, I feel student recruitment could have contacted us more throughout the year regarding our status. Saying that, I never needed any help so I'm sure they would have been there if I had.
PwC invest heavily in you, they want you to come back as a graduate, the onus is on you to show them you have the ability to do so.

Very, I have a graduate offer from PwC.
The Culture
Yes, very strong social scene
Belfast is a cheap city to live in, although wages reflect this cheapness. Nightlife is good though.
Good, lots of bars and a few good clubs. One club is directly opposite the Belfast office.
I think there are running/cycling clubs but nothing that appealed to me specifically.
