The Role
I have thoroughly enjoyed my work placement with PwC. The 11 months have gone really quickly. I've had the opportunity to take part in a vast range of activities and projects, as well as making some extremely close relationships along the way.
From day one I have felt valued by my colleagues. My team are quite closely knit and I have integrated in well
The Management team within my department have been excellent in their one-to-one management of myself and the rest of the team. I have the guidance and support if I need it, as well as just having general day to day chats to see how things are
Obviously it can vary. Some days are hectic and others not so much, but I have always been given a lot of work. If I was ever not too busy then I would simply request more work. There are also endless E-learns on the company employee portal which can easily fill any spare time
I couldn't believe the amount of responsibility trusted in me during my placement. I have put myself forward for a couple of different events and was successul in being on the organising team for both. I also have different taks on a daily basis which are trusted in me and I don't have to be checked in on.
I feel that the skills I have developed during my 11 months will undoubtedly help me in my final year of university. Time management and prioritising are just two major skills that progress whilst with the firm. I should be able to balance work and university even better than I would have previously, after the year at PwC
The Company
The office is in an open plan format but is not as daunting as this might sound inititally. You quickly adapt and general atmosphere is a positive and welcoming one.
We don't have too much contact with the recruitment/HR team throughout the 11 months but this is down to the fact we are fully equipped and briefed by them at the beginning of the placement, and then any assistance needed from there on out is provided by our individual teams and people managers.
My department (BRS) has a wide range of "Tech Trains" which are basically personal training courses designed to strengthen each memeber of the BRS team as well as improve client experience.

Future employment prospects with PwC are massive. The firm is ever-growing and is a superpower in the world of Professional Services. The NI firm have only recently announced 807 new jobs in the next 5 years so prospects look great
The Culture
Like most things in life, PwC is what you make it. There are a number of organised social events and get togethers between colleagues. For example the first friday of every month is "First Friday Club" at the Hilton Hotel - a great chance to mix with your colleagues in a more relaxed environment. This is a great way to meet new people.
Compared to Dublin or the wider UK I think Belfast is relatively affordable. Rent isn't too expensive and the cost of day to day living is also considerate,
There are an abundance of bars/nightclubs/restaurants in Belfast. You can go out any night of the week!
Again, there are opportunities to get involved in anything you want outside of work, e.g. pilates classes, white collar boxing, sports clubs
