    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • It takes some time to understand your role but once you understand it, you are pretty much able to manage your work load and balance everything that needs to be done. It can be busy and sometimes stressful, but once you over come those challenges it can be very rewarding, all the other interns and everyone that works there are great and always willing to help.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • For my role i was given a lot of responsibility as well as the support needed to get through it. They rely on me to complete my work and use my knowledge to help them when we are close to deadlines. They don't see me as an intern.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My first few weeks my manager was with me the whole time, explaining what i needed to know and took me to the clients office to meet the rest of the team. They showed me who i needed to contact with each kind of problem and made it clear i could always go to them for whatever kind of help. Great management team.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Each role varies, mine- there is always something to do, if there is that one day your a little free it wont last long as something will come up. I like being busy at work and my role keeps me on my feet. That being said I can manage my time so participate in other things if I finish my day to day work quicker, it really depends how much you put in, in any placement.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • The first 2 months were probably the toughest as everything was absolutely new to me, so my team allocated simple work (at the time to me was very confusing) so that I can understand how everything works, once i started picking everything up, i started learning how to do everything someone in a full time role doing my job would do. within 3 months i was having to manage approvals from customer and ensure reports were done and i've taught my team how to do the reports. I have enough to keep me busy and I deal with queries from project managers etc on my own. It's good when your team trust you.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • definitely time management, I have 9 am calls every single day and it was extremely hard for me to manage my time to make those calls, its a place of work so you need to learn to adapt everything to fit around your work life. Training is always there, online and when you get emails about events taking place.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • calm and relaxing, when your busy you dont even have time to listen to the conversations around you. But on the whole everyone is always laughing or talking about crucial next steps in their line of work. Friendly environment. If you have your friends around its great.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Pretty well, it takes time for you to receive all the emails and info. You can always contact them if you don't here anything and you should get a reply. But they inform you how long the set up will be etc so there isn't really a concern if you haven't heard from them in a while..its all being sorted out in the background

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Lots of online training available. The give you a mentor for the year that helps you go to the next step. Its all about you and how you are going to achieve the next steps and people are there to help you, provide you the connections. Two big training days and alot of opportunities to get to know the company and the huge variety of roles out there.

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Very. As one of the industry leaders you always hear conversations people have over the phone or with the colleagues. Over the year you connect and learn about other roles in the company best suited to you and everyone is approachable enough for you to ask them for guidance and what it is their role consists of. Definitely wanting to apply back as a business consultant, but even if i end up not enjoying the role, the company are very flexible and people tend to change roles 2-3 years to advance in the company and go into fields that they prefer. Its really good to have that flexibility .

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Yes - the more you mingle the more people you meet. Can be hard to know all the interns if you join late and don't really have time to join in activities.
