The Role
My placement within Triumph was enjoyable in all areas as it has gave me a firm foundation of knowledge to support my degree in Human Resources Management. The experience that was offered has been brilliant for future employment.
During my 14 month industrial placement I found that my colleagues valued my hard work. This has been seen through extending my 12 month initial contract to 14. My colleagues have also adapted the support given to each placement student within HR, dependant on their particular needs.
Support was given from my manager throughout the whole of my placement enabling me to gain the most of my time at Triumph Motorcycles. The guidance that was given showed integral in a very fast paced and demanding environment.
There were periods in which I was very busy before Christmas. During these periods I gained support from my manager who told me what my priority was. My placement had different demands dependant on the months (some busier than others).
I was responsible for all the industrial placement recruitment. This is from sending CV's to managers, setting up testing and running assessment centres. I am very proud of this achievement and was glad to be given the responsibility.
There were various activities which supported the development in my university course and this included writing an effective business style report. Not only will this be used at university but is a skill which can be used in future employment.
The Company
A very friendly atmosphere which gave the opportunity to build relationships with colleagues to a great level. This was very motivating as you knew that you could speak to anyone with any issues that you had.
Very well organised I had clear objectives throughout the whole of my placement and I knew this at the start.
My company invested in various courses which supported my development over the year period. These included personal effectiveness, conflict management, excel and outlook.

Graduate positions are offered to hard working students in particular areas where there is a demand. Design in particular offer a lot of students graduate positions and often sponsor students in their last year of university before returning.
The Culture
Students who live within Hinckley have the opportunity to share details with other placement students to chose shared accommodation together for a year period. Depending on whether you are a socialite or like to keep yourself to yourself you can do this throughout your year.
Very reasonable and cheap with shared accommodation. There are various pubs and bars within the town centre. Also Triumph is around a 45 minute drive to Birmingham where you can go shopping or go to concerts.
Nightlife is not great within Hinckley but very good within Leicester town centre which you can access through trains, taxis or bus.
There are different clubs and activities which you can get involved with that are posted within Intranet. These include football, golf etc.
