About You
It was a great opportunity to experience work in area of law which was new to me and to work in such a highy regarded team was a privilege.
I felt like I was a positive addition to the team and not just there as a fly on the wall, I got to be involved with a number of cases and was able to provide input on each one.
I was given the opportunity to research and draft work on my own, however this was always with the chance to take advice and assistance when it was needed.
Its great to know that you can move between departments and are able settle in to a role and be an asset to a team. The advice given by the team and several members of the office will be hugely helpfully for me when continuing to pursue a career as a solicitor.
The Company
Whilst not overstretched there was always work/tasks to complete and plenty of time was allowed to meet people from all over the office. The tasks given at the start of the week meant organising time was crucial but I was given the opportunity to prioritise this with my other work as I saw fit.
Everyone in the the office were very friendly and made me feel welcome throughout my time there.
I got to work alongside and for partners, associattes and solicitors who all gave feedback on my performance and any areas for improvment.
It gave me a great insight into working with other teams within the firm and it was good opportunity to experience the culture of a different office and department.
I was able to see that the firms culture was not sporadic, it was at the heart of every department in the firm.
It allowed me to see what it was like working a smaller number of cases but with a greater value and for higher profile clients.
Everything Else
I was given ample opportunities to meet a number of members of the firm and office and was able to dicuss and take advice from each of them on my future career.
I was given the chance to meet and socialise with alot of helpful and interesting people.
I was made aware of a lot of activities the firm get involved in, unfortunatley there were not many happening during my time there.
Yes, if you would like to know what it is like to work for a national law firm with great values and have the opportunity to really get stuck in to the work they do, then Shoosmiths is the place for you.
