The Role
There was a lot of traveling involved in my position, which was fun & a great social life too.
I worked in a team that were not based in the same office as me. So essentially I worked alone & my main method of communication was over phone, emails & video conferencing.
Very much a "learn on the job" and "if you want to know something, figure it out yourself" attitude in my team
Some weeks (on the run up to events) it was very busy but then majority of the time my work load was very low and this got very boring.
I had a lot of responsibility during the events that I was involved in.
Overall the skills I gained are invaluable. The experience has been difficult - sometimes boring but I've managed to overcome situations and believe I've gained lots of experience which will help motivate me in my final year of studies
The Company
I sit with other interns which is fun
I waited for a month until I discovered if my position was confirmed. I didn't know about the set up of my team and my change over period was cut down by half which meant I was left in the dark a lot in the beginning.
I traveled a lot in my position which was great experience and an investment from HP. But... in terms of training its very much a train yourself job.

Working from home
Only positions available are within Sales. I would come back to HP and work in Marketing - but only if it was in a locally based team
The Culture
I live in a house with 6 friends who work at HP. The social scene is fantastic! lots of planned nights out
Its an expensive place to live but everyone manages it. All the interns had parties before nights out so that can be as expensive or cheap as you like.
Great nightlife and London is a short train journey away
There is a committee that hold charity events. Lots of interns were involved in the 3 peaks challenge and there are lots of nights out available. Living with interns also means your never short of things to do!
