  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • The internship was extremely enjoyable, with useful insights provided in a friendly environment.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • The company took a genuine interest in each intern. We were encourage to attend as many meetings as possible, and shadowed the work of almost all the Fixed-Income teams, in order to understand what parts of the investments team most interested us.

  • Each intern was assigned a graduate 'buddy', who were all very helpful in introducing us to the different teams and ensuring we were settled in for the week.Moreover this support extended beyond our assigned buddies, with more senior staff being happy to introduce themselves and offer insight and advice.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • We were given an extended project to complete that involved researching a current event and evaluating how it would impact fixed income markets. This developed highly applicable research and investment analysis skills. More generally, the programme gave invaluable insight into how asset management firms and the broader financial system operates.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The program was excellently structured. Following an introductory day of presentations, we were for the remaining four days free to shadow different investment teams (completing our presentation project during this time). Though the work shadowing required some self-direction, it allowed us to gain a far more realistic into day-to-day business.

  • The atmosphere was excellent. Everyone (both interns and employees) was very relaxed, friendly and helpful. This team-orientated environment added much value to the programme.

  • Everyone was willing to invest their own time, during work hours, in conversation with myself and fellow interns

  • As mentioned earlier, the four days of work shadowing gave an excellent understanding of what a full-time role at the company entails.

  • Understanding the company's unique team-orientation and client focus was a primary focus of the insight week.

  • Had no expenses to claim since I was already located within London.

  • Networking was an ongoing process during the four days of work-shadowing.

  • There were two social events during the week. Networking opportunities were available continuously throughout the programme.

  • We were told about the companies support of community volunteering and external study (e.g. CFA).

  • Definitely. It gave a very detailed insight into the firm (and the broader asset-management industry), while also helping develop crucial skills.
