The Role
IBM has been a great experience. Apart from their daily job routine Interns have the opportunity to get involved with a wide range of projects and work with many professionals across the organisation.
Many times throughout the year my colleagues have showed me that I am an important part of the team. Moreover, all professionals within the company treat you with respect and are always ready to help you.
I had the opportunity to work at the same location with my managers, During the year they have been very supportive and very helpful with various queries I had.
The daily tasks associated with my job role were not too much and I was able to get involved with many givebacks throughout the year.
I was given a significant amount of responsibility, but I have always had all my managers available to talk to in case of an issue.
I believe that IBM has helped me build up on many of my skills and everything learnt will be very important for my final year. I am going back to University more organised and with great time management skills.
The Company
The atmosphere at the office is really nice. What makes it great for interns is that there are many other students and it never gets boring.
The placement scheme is very very well organised. The Foundation team are doing great job every year to ensure the great experience for all Interns.
Before I started my placement I had a two-days induction. However, before I was given any responsibility I spent a few weeks with my managers and senior Interns to make sure I understand my job role and I am able to perform my tasks.

IBM has a great graduate scheme and I am seriously considering applying back.
The Culture
IBM has one of the biggest Internship Schemes which means many fellow students at the office. The social scene is great and it never gets boring.
I am based in Portsmouth, so the cost of living and socialising is not too high. It is times cheaper than London and still a great experience.
Portsmouth is a student city so for Interns the Nightlife is at a very good level. However, there are very nice restaurants and bars for those who prefer to avoid the student places.
There are plenty of opportunities. Many of the interns have been playing sports with local clubs, for example.
