The Role
I have really enjoyed my time at Volkswagen Group. I worked for SEAT in Customer Quality and Network Development. It is a fast-moving department which was great to experience during my first year in a commercial environment.
I felt very valued by my colleagues. They were helpful and weren't hesitant to give me additional work or ad-hoc projects when they needed help. Pieces of work I have to do contribute to my team and our regular team meetings helped build relationships
I was given support and guidance by my manager. Everyone's busy so it can be difficult at times to schedule a meeting.
This is really dependent on the month and dependent on ad-hoc tasks given.
I was given a lot of responsibility on my placement. I have been handed over various procedures and programmes . My role is also a permanent role in other brands within the Volkswagen Group which made me feel valued.
The undergraduate progamme is well structured. We had a lot of training courses such as excel courses and quarterly undergraduate meetings held with HR on our development. The skills i've learnt this year have ben invaluable and would now feel confident starting a new job as the basics (such as outlook and excel) don't seem daunting anymore.
The Company
SEAT is a fast, vibrant and fun brand and this was reflected in the office. Because it was small everybody talks to eachother and there is a general buzz round the office.
I'd say the scheme in general is very organised. As undergraduates we went along to HQ during our Easter Holidays before we actually started so we could meet others as well as gain an insight into the group. Within our first fortnight we had a day and a half of inductions as well as regular training sessions.
I got to visit the SEAT factory in Barcelona which was a great experience in itself as i could understand the brand values and where our prodcuts were actually designed and made. My manager and I had weekly meetings which has really helped as I can voice any problems i have or questions and vice-versa.
