The Role
I have thoroughly enjoyed my placement year. I have had a wide range of opportunities and my role was very varied. I have worked in a very supportive team who was always happy to help and had experiences outside of the organisation working with external agencies.
I feel very valued by my colleagues to the extent that I have been asked to stay on in a summer role. It was very nice to hear that my team wanted me to stay on and help out with a very important project.
Staff and team very enthusiastic about development. Had regular 1 to 1s with my manager to discuss work load, development and any queries. This was really useful and meant that I had dedicated time with my manager to discuss any queries.
Because I was in a new role it took a little bit of time to establish my exact responsibilities. However, after discussion with my manager I could see how my strengths and interests could help the role. I also got involved in projects which were not necessarily to my skill set- this was very valuable and helped me expand my learning!
I was given ownership of a large scale project and project managed it from idea to delivery. Although quite daunting- this has given me great exposures to the wider team and agencies alike. I also help to manage our agencies on a daily basis.
Learning how to interact with people is the biggest skill I've obtained. Working within an office is different to what I've done before and it is imperative to get along with your team and beyond.
The Company
I was in Sales Operations so there was a real team atmosphere and a lot of hustle towards the end of the month! There was friendly competition and you can really leverage this to get to know people. We also have a large field team so the office can get rather busy when they arrive- however it is always nice to see different faces in the office.
I was in a new role- so perhaps some more guidance about my exact role within my first week. However I had a fantastic line manager who was always happy to help and answer any questions.
Plenty of L&D opportunities whether this was Excel, PowerPoint or Self Management. Perhaps a little more guidance on which courses were most applicable to undergrads.

If you are endorsed by your line manager- you can get fast tracked to the graduate assessment centres. There are also opportunities to come back into full time roles. I have landed a new summer role helping out on a project which is beyond the usual undergraduate programme.
The Culture
A lot of the undergrads lived in MK so a good vibe between the students. Christmas parties and celebration parties are all great and give you the opportunity to get to know people!
Not overly cheap- not overly expensive. Would not rush to live back in MK but it has it's charms and lots of good businesses in the area for career progression.
The clubs are pretty rubbish! Some nice pubs around however.
Not many sporting opportunities for females.
