The Role
The placement scheme overall is very good, however my role could have been managed a bit better.
I felt valued by my direct colleagues, but not the higher board of management
I have been given support where needed, however there have been times where my managers have been too busy for weeks and I had to find other ways of solving issues and queries. This has been caused by their heavy workload and not lack of willingness.
This was highly dependant of what stage of the month we were in. The last week of each month was a lot quieter and I had to keep myself busy with ad-hoc duties
A lot, potentially too much too soon and then not enough at times. It all depended on how smooth all the business operations were running.
I have gained a lot of skills that can be applied in the business environment as I have been exposed to all areas of the business from a very early stage. I have also attended a lot of useful developmental courses.
The Company
The people in my team were very friendly, but unfortunately some had workloads that extended beyond their role and therefore you could sense their unhapiness. Overall everyone was extremelly willing to help whenever they had a spare second.
Looking at the overall scheme, it is extremelly well managed by the company. This was not the case in my placement, but the reasons for it were caused by external influences that have altered our department, rather than my managers and my team.
The company is very good at organising and encouraging you to attend developmental courses that are suited to your role as well as your personal objectives. My managers were very willing to help me out on professional as well as personal scale, however they did not always stick to their promises and/or timelines
