The Role
Fantastic experience to industry. Lots of responsibility and exposure to key stakeholders. Fortunate enough to spend time out in the field.
Extremely- seen as a job and not a placement student.
Lots- management and others in the department and company were extremely helpful.
Extremely- plus I was able to ask for more projects/ work if needed.
Lots of responsibility- one of the best elements of the placement with VWG. I had the ability to work with agencies, our retail partners and key internal stakeholders.
The skills I have developed and the training I have received will be exceptionally key in assisting my degree studies (in International Business), as well as helping me going forward in terms of applying to Graduate jobs and schemes.
The Company
The atmosphere was really good- I got on very well with my colleagues around the business.
The placement was well organised, however I think there could have been some improvements to the programme. At our induction we had no senior management presence, which could have been really motivating!
The company invested a lot in terms of developing the undergrads. We had the opportunity to go on a lot of training courses and I was able to explore the business outside of my role. My manager encouraged me to spend time outside of the business in the field which again was great for my own personal development.

By doing an undergraduate year with the company does not benefit you at all in terms of fast-tracking onto the graduate scheme. The company offers a 'golden ticket' which essentially means you miss the first stage of the application form and the second stage of the telephone interview, however you still have to go to assessment centres and interviews to get onto the graduate programme. Having invested in you for a year, you would have thought that there would have been opportunities to gain future employment with the company.
The Culture
Totally dependent on how involved you get with the other placement students and other colleagues.
Fairly good- outside of London so prices were significantly lower!
Ok- but only 45 minutes on the train from London.
Yes- dependent on how involved you wanted to get.
