The Role
This internship was tailored to answers given in the interview and previous experience, therefore we were able to develop our current skills, as well as learning new ones
Colleagues in my department were very friendly and I always felt comfrotable asking questions or for help. I also received very positive feedback from my colleagues and other staff around the business
I received great support from colleagues in my area, as well as my line manager, who arranged weekly meetings to check my progress.
I had a very varied workload, especially at the beginning of the placement, however this evened out later on in the placement as I was given more long-term projects
I was given quite a lot of responsibility during my placement, and never felt like people were 'checking up' on me.
I think that the skills I've learnt will help me to some degree at university, but will be very useful when I come to apllying for jobs in the future, as it has given me insight into a large company, and the experience of responsibilty in a job
The Company
Everyone was always busy in my office, but the people I sat with always chatted to me and everyone was extremely friendly and supportive. I was also lucky to have someone on the graduate scheme and another intern to chat to
We were given a very in depth, professional presentation before applying and supported well throughout. However, there were some problems over our holiday and pay due to being employed by an agency
We had a structured development program, with a personal brand workshop and facilitation skills course scheduled, as we as 2 group projects to work on. I was also encouraged to visit other areas of the business to gain deeper insight
Subsidised Canteen
Company Parties/Events
Although I don't have a particular interest in financial services, I found the work in my department interesting, and the atmosphere was great. I also think that Zurich treat its staff well and there are lots of opportunities, such as training available.
The Culture
I was lucky enough to live in bath with friends from university and travel to Swindon every day so I was lucky enough to have the university social life. However the cost of travelling every day was quite high
The nightlife in Bath is quite good, made better by the student population
There were opportunities to get involved in charity events and to socialise with the people on or people who had just finished the graduate scheme
