The Role
It could be quite stressful as there was a lot to do and even more to learn, but was worth it in the end
We were welcomed
Supervisors were always willing to help but were also very busy so there wasn't always time. Everyone in the office was willing o help if they could though
After the first couple of weeks there was always something to do, although there was some fluctuation between being too much and too little.
Most of the work I did was exploratory and so not essential to the company, but I was responsible for deciding a lot of what I did.
Invaluable!
The Company
Very friendly. Everyone was work focused but also willing to have a laugh.
Pretty much perfect, with just a couple of occassional issues with payment.
The first two weeks were pure training, and after that learning really started. We were able to see and try out many different techniques and there are many people with very different specialities and experiences to talk to.

The Culture
The main student committee organised several big events throughout the year (christmas, end of year, etc), but there were endless houseparties and other socials happening within and between students of different departments and sites. There were also several departmental and group meals and a departmental christmas party. We were also lucky enough to go on an company-paid departmental retreat for two days.
Pretty good.
There were a couple of places but not many. London was very close though (30mins by train) so easy enough to get to.
Not many, although a couple did come up over the course of the year (some volunteering, charity runs etc).
