    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I have really enjoyed my placement and would be very happy to return here afterwards

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt like one of the team rather than just a student who was extra lab hands. I was given my own sets of experiments and my data and opinions mattered.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I was given training on everything that I needed, all the equipment, just like a normal member of staff.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Because of the nature of the role there were times when I was waiting for reactions to complete and you couldn't start anything else until you had that data. Its the industry that some days you are rushed off your feet and some days just waiting.

    3/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • The same as a normal employee with the exception of being able to sign my own risk assessments and no lone working.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I have developed and matured personally more than I ever thought I would. I have gained confidence, both interpersonal but also with regards to my laboratory skills. I have learnt many techniques in the lab that will really help me further on in my education.

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Very sociable - everyone shared news and got on well and if you had any chemistry or process related questions there was bound to be someone in there to help you out.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Very. The training was all organised from the beginning, as who i was going to be shadowing and then working with.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I had the same amount of training and personal development as a new starter to the company.

    4/5
