The Role
I have really enjoyed my placement and would be very happy to return here afterwards
I felt like one of the team rather than just a student who was extra lab hands. I was given my own sets of experiments and my data and opinions mattered.
I was given training on everything that I needed, all the equipment, just like a normal member of staff.
Because of the nature of the role there were times when I was waiting for reactions to complete and you couldn't start anything else until you had that data. Its the industry that some days you are rushed off your feet and some days just waiting.
The same as a normal employee with the exception of being able to sign my own risk assessments and no lone working.
I have developed and matured personally more than I ever thought I would. I have gained confidence, both interpersonal but also with regards to my laboratory skills. I have learnt many techniques in the lab that will really help me further on in my education.
The Company
Very sociable - everyone shared news and got on well and if you had any chemistry or process related questions there was bound to be someone in there to help you out.
Very. The training was all organised from the beginning, as who i was going to be shadowing and then working with.
I had the same amount of training and personal development as a new starter to the company.
Flexi Time
Sports and Social Club

Company Parties/Events
Subsidised Canteen
Financial Bonus

I would be very happy to come back and work here.
The Culture
With ~100 students based on the same site as me we all got along and organised activites together - paintballing, boat parties
Living close to London the rent was not as cheap as a student area in Birmingham and neither was the social life.
In Stevenage you have a Weatherspoons and one nightclub.... However when everyone gets together and organises coached to Cambridge, ST Albans, London its a good nightout.
I joined sports clubs.
