The Role
Fit in straight away and enjoyed goin to work each day. Not really a bad thing to say bout it.
They treated me like I'd been working there for 10 years rather than a one year placement student.
I had a weekly meeting with my manager where we discussed my progress and how to increase my responsibilty.
Always very busy which was good if you were in the mood but on your off-days was groanworthy.
Started out with little then as I developed my manager would tell me my extra responsibilities in my weekly meetings.
Learned loadsa new insights which I doubt I would have understood as fully if I'd been in the classroom.
The Company
The office was usually chilled and a nice place to just get on with your work.
Great. From interview to arrival day everything was fablicknous.
The department hadn't been established long before I begun my placement so while I was there they were just experimenting with new ideas and phases.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Subsidised/Company Gym
Harder than ever. I hear they are cutting a lot of jobs due to the current economic climate.
The Culture
Few other students on other departments and we hung out for lunch and a pub quiz night every Thursday.
Lived in my uni accommodation blocks so was comparatively cheap compared to professional flats or houses.
AMAZING. So many good nights out and fun places to go.
I mainly went out with my uni friends who all were either on placements in Sheffield or had decided to continue with onto the next year.
