The Role
Really enjoyed doing many experiments independently and becoming self sufficient in the labs. Met loads of great people and felt supported by all of the staff. Helped my decision into what I want to do in the future and allowed me to experience the pharmaceutical industry.
Colleagues were all very helpful with any problems I had, and were always willing to show me how to do something. Did multiple social occasions with staff such as departmental meals and events with other placement students
My supervisor was always willing to help and always contactable. 1:1 meetings helped me show him my work and ask for feedback. He would also help me plan my uni work around my lab work.
Varied, some days I would have loads to do and other days when incubations were taking place I would be quieter. Generally I would work 8:30-5pm, with lunch and a break.
I was relatively independent and allowed to plan conduct and analyse my experiments by myself. However help was available should I need it, especially at the beginning when I needed more support.
I am now able to run experiments and plan lab work much better. My basic dilution/maths skills have improved loads and I can now analyse data much more efficiently.
The Company
Friendly, the open plan office means you are always sitting next to new people and there are plenty of opportunities to talk to people and interact. Senior management, full time staff and students all sit together.
Very well organised, there were no issues in starting and the whole process were very stress free. They are very experienced in taking students and understand what issues we have, and the requirements from uni
There were multiple e-learning tutorials to complete when we started, and a long induction process. Training is continual and helpful, and wasnt hard to pick up. Also attended a radioactivity training day due to the nature of my work

Very appealing, they offer a fast track graduate scheme into several buisness areas, however this is a very competitive scheme. There are also direct entry roles.
The Culture
Yes, over 100 students meaning we had a netball team, meals, nights out and pub trips. Very good social scene and everyone is very friendly.
Accomodation in Stevenage was around £325-£350 a month for a shared house. relatively cheap food/nights out but london is expensive for nights out of course. Gym membership is decent
Pretty rubbish, only 1 club in STevenage and is a bad one. But been to London several times which is great and also other nearby towns and cities.
yes, sports clubs, pub quizzes, meals out, day trips, thorpe park
