The Role
My job role wasn't necessarily what I expected, but it definitely exceeded them. I was kept busy most of the time and the work was always varied and worked with several colleagues.
This was one of the best points in that you are treated just like a colleague, and at no point did I really feel like a placement student here. I was given real work that impacted the entire IT organisation.
They were incredibly welcoming and I felt comfortable to ask them any and all questions that I had.
As can be expected, I wasn't constantly busy all the time. There were a few times when there wasn't anything available for me to do, but it wasn't too bad because it did help the balance when I had times where I was extremely busy.
Similarly to above, I was given so much responsibility, from Directors both in my department and others, allowing me to work across IT, which I loved. I was given real work that impacted the whole of the IT organisation, and one of my main pieces of work was being a Project Manager and given complete control and decisions about a system upgrade.
I feel that this year has been invaluable to finding graduate employment and onwards.
The Company
Open plan and hot-desking meant that the office always felt casual and conversation was always freely flowing.
There was times where it didn't feel organised at all, but I feel my placement had to adapt to the needs and situation of my department.
There was no real external training, but I did get thorough in-house training. Benefitted from experience and training in well-known computer systems.

This place is very comfortable to work and promotes a casual, relaxed environment throughout and I think this is very important. The work in my department was very exciting and would happily work here again.
The Culture
There is a scheme for students that are run by students but this often felt disjointed and very poorly organised. Events were few and far between.
It's London, so it is quite expensive, but living outside of Central London meant that it could have been worse.
Immediately, nothing. However a couple of tubes away and you're set.
I was actively involved in planning a number of events within my department and these worked very well and made me feel that the department was very close.
