The Role
My placement year was extremelly enjoyable. My team was great, challening me and empowering me to have an impact on the team projects.
My colleagues were extremely welcoming, making me feel like I was a full time employee and not a placement student. Not once during my placement did I not feel valued by my colleagues.
My manager was very supportive and gave me great guidance. He would take an interest on my personal development and would ensure to help me whenever I asked.
How busy I was changed everyday, but I generally was busy most of the day, with an hour break during lunch. Good balance.
At the start of my placement I was not given too much responsibility but as my placement progressed my team saw that I could deliver great results and there would give me more responsibility. I know lead a global programme, in which I had a set budget of £17,000.
I attended various training workshops during my placement, from general skills workshops to marketing specific workshops. All of the training I received will greatly help me in the future, but I believe the experience I got from working with such an experienced team improved my skills for life.
The Company
Depending on the day. Some days the atmosphere was great fun, other days the atmosphere was how a normal office would look like - a quiet workspace. Overall I think having great co-workers made the atmosphere in the office very enjoyable.
In terms of onboarding, everything was very well set up, as my manager ensured I had all the information I needed. In terms of my job role, it was a little bit unclear what I would do until I managed to prove myself to the team. Overall the placement was well set up as there was a 'placement group' of students at gsk that dealt with quieries, organised social event and skills workshops etc.
I was surprised to see how much the company invests in their placement students. I was able to attend a lot of general skills workshops, as well as a three day marketing workshop. I will also be able to go on a field visit and possibly travel in another country to see how the business operates. But again I think this might be due to the fact that I have great team that care about my development.

Great - their future leaders programme is very good and I hope to apply in the future.
The Culture
I know for a fact that the placement team organised a lot of event but I didn't attend any, so I would not be able to really comment - 5 to keep it neutral.
