The Role
I enjoyed it a lot, GSK gives you new opportunities as long as you are willing to take them on.
I was given lots of responsibility which meant I felt valued.
We had objectives as well as a personal development plan to help us identify and target any opportunities.
Sometimes very busy, sometimes moderate. Because GSK let you work across departments you always find someone needing work to be done - usually really interesting opportunities.
Lots of responsibility - you are treated just like any other junior member of staff.
I now have much more knowledge of a real life situation rather than having the theory knowledge a university gives you.
The Company
Laid back and people are always willing to help.
Very structured - GSK have been doing this for a while now so there is an expectation that the handover & future of the next IP is as structured as the last.
It depends on your department. In my case I was not given the opportunities others were because my department didn't have as much funding. For departments with funding, placement students got to do ITIL/Prince etc.
Flexi Time
Sports and Social Club
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
Subsidised Canteen
Financial Bonus
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Not as appealing as they used to be in IT - it's now a SAP based scheme so if you're not looking to do SAP then you will not have a future in IT at GSK. However, for placement students who want to do SAP then this is a good organisation to try for as they invest a lot of time and commitment in grads.
The Culture
No
Not too bad.
Had to go into central.
Lots of opportunities if you reached out for them.
