The Role
Great company to be a part of. Although you are employed through an Agency and not as a GSK employee, you are still resourced into a role, and given real responsibility.
I worked alongside many managers and senior leaders and was given tasks that were important to the business. I did, however, often get called into projects to deliver the 'technical' or administrative aspects. .
My manager was extremely supportive of development opportunities and there were often managers around more than happy to guide me if there was something I was unsure of. GSK actively supports development and I advise future IPs to seek these opportunities.
Work can fluctuate, although I never had a dull day. Some projects mean you have to deliver more than the required time, however the company are good at being flexible.
I was surpised at the amount of responsibility I was given from day 1. For me this was great experience, and I was lucky enough to have the support around me to help with that.
I believe the skills and experience I have gained this year will help me with future job applications and similar work. I think it is difficult to relate it to a degree subject as the reality is very different from theory.
The Company
The company 'hot desks' which means you can be sat next to another placement student one day, and a senior leader the next. This was great but it often meant the general office atmosphere was quiet, people tended to have their heads down working.
You go into a set role which means you have a clear path for the year.
Personally I had a fantastic development experience over the year- and asked for these opportunities. I think as we are not GSK employees there is a certain amount of reluctance to build our capability knowing that we leave in 12 months time, but the opportunities are there.
Flexi Time
Sports and Social Club
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
Subsidised Canteen
Financial Bonus
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Woudl be interested in seeing what direct entry roles are available when graduating. Graduate schemes at GSK are very competitive.
The Culture
Yes. Many of the IPs live together and arrange events.
London is always expensive. Head office is in greater london and therefore slightly cheaper.
You would have to go into central London.
