About You
It did exactly what I expected an insight week to do. It gave me a first hand experience into the GFA area, and although I learned that GFA wasn't for me, a large number of people became really enthusiastic about the area and Rothschild itself. I expected it to be a cut throat experience but I very much enjoyed my experience and met some really nice people during the week.
The networking events and shadowing were very engaging and during all of it, I felt that the employees were there out of genuine interest in imparting their experiences and knowledge onto us.
During the insight we received a vast amount of support and guidance through the form of one on one shadowing, networking events and talks from various members of staff.
With banking being such a vast industry, it is very difficult for anyone to know exactly what area they want to do. This insight week gave me a fantastic opportunity to learn about the industry and learn vital presentation and interview skills which will be of great help in the future. Although I decided not to opt to continue in GFA, I met many people who were convinced by the insight that not only was GFA for them, but they were convinced Rothschild, as a company, was too.
The Company
Very well structured with a 5 days packed full of talks, shadowing, networking, and a group project to suggest a merger/acquisition deal.
It was a very engaging and enjoyable experience! I met people who were obviously very intelligent and also great to get along with too! Everyone was really friendly and I hope to keep in touch with them in the future.
Although I realised GFA wasn't for me, it just proves that the Insight into GFA did exactly what it was meant to; give an insight into the GFA area and help you determine if the area is for you or not.
Everything Else
It wasn't paid but expenses such as hotel and travel were reimbursed
We participated in a volunteering event where we helped to clear up a local park.
Definitely! It was a thoroughly engaging, intellectually challenging and enjoyable experience. And I recommend it to anyone wanting to know if GFA is for them
