About You
The insight was a great introduction to the firm. The balance between presentations, group work and work shadowing was great! Also, everyone who I met throughout the week was very positive and willing to help out interns with group projects!
Throughout the insight week, we were constantly introduced to various people within the business. This allowed us to learn a lot about the different job roles in Rothschild and the culture that is present within the firm. A key aspect to this culture was the time that people invested in others, which was great!
Guidance and support was open to us at all points. However, it was up to the interns to go out and meet people from the business who would be more then willing to help us. The amount of time that analysts gave up to work on our group projects with us was incredible!
As the week was focused around Investment Banking, particularly M&A, it provided a great way to contextualise what I learnt in my course. Also, the real life case studies helped to make the work we were doing relatable to our future.
The Company
The week was structured very well. At the beginning of the week we were given a full timetable, which was great to help us manage our time. Also, great range of activities.
The atmosphere was great at Rothschild. I really felt part of the firm and this filled me with the motivation to want to work for the firm in the future.
Firm invested a lot of time in ensuring we developed great presentation skills and pitch book skills. We had external trainers come in to teach us - this type of training was invaluable and really set the firm apart from others!
We were able to gain a brief insight into what full time employment would be like, however it would have been great to shadow people at various different stages in their career to get an idea of how roles differ throughout the firm.
Culture was key at Rothschild. You really felt how welcoming the people were and how much the firm concentrated on people.
As we were given multiple presentations form members from different departments, it allowed interns to develop a great understanding of the business as a whole and analyse which department best suited their own skill set.
Everything Else
N/A
There were plenty of opportunities to meet with employees around the business. We were also encouraged to contact employees to help us with our group projects.
Great range of networking opportunities which meant that everyone could find time to speak to employees.
Yes. As part of the week we did some charity work which is a key part of Rothschild's CSR. Very different from any other firm, but great to experience on a week internship.
Definitely. Great introduction to financial industry and firm.
