The Role
Really interesting year, offered something different to other placements I heard about and didn't disappoint. As a placement cohort we were very well looked after and were spoilt for opportunities.
Placement students were treated like any other employee, if not better. Whilst you were consistently being trusted with high profile roles and important jobs, you were also being provided with a huge number of learning and skill developing opportunities.
Fujitsu seemed to provide enormous support for IP's, being given assignment managers assisting you in your day to day roles, to IP talent advisors enabling you to better yourself, regularly putting on workshops and training days, whilst also being a point of contact for any wellbeing issues. This was above and beyond anything I expected when joining the company
Workload varied. Very rarely would I need to work late due to work load, however on a rare occasion this was necessary. Usually you are kept busy in your normal working hours 9-5.30, and there is always support to take on more, or to delegate some responsibility if you are being overworked.
The responsibility provided was the same as any graduate. You are treated with the same amount of respect as anyone else in the business and are always involved in graduate related tasks. You will be given the opportunity to take on and own your own projects, whilst also being part of other projects taking on a range of tasks.
The skills I developed have been far beyond what I have imagined. The practical things I have learnt have been far more than I did in the first 2 years of university, putting in place the things I had previously learnt, whilst also helping me to develop areas I was previously uncomfortable with. The training opportunities are like no other company I have heard of, with a vast amount of different courses available allowing personal development from presentation skills to excel skills to personal relations
The Company
The atmosphere is a relaxed space, with an open office and comfortable surroundings.
The organisation was brilliant. From the start of my placement to the end, it was clear what was happening when, providing a clear structure of the year ahead, and the opportunities that were available.
The personal development and training was second to none - there was more training that you could want - something that everyone in the company felt. Personal development is something that fujtisu pride itself on from what I have found having an enormous training budget which they are more than happy to spend on IPs

From the workshops and development days we have attended, the future as a graduate sounds very appealing, offering similar opportunities as IPs, giving the flexibility to work at locations more preferable
The Culture
There was a social committee in both the sector I worked in amongst all graduates IPs and apprentices as well as one within the IPs. As there was only 20 IPs, the social scene wasn't that large within the IP cohort outside of work, however the social events and group training days were very social and entertaining
I lived in reading - as a typical student town, rent and socialising wasn't very expensive
The nightlife was ok - reading is quite good for a year, with London only 35 minutes away it is easy to get to places with a better nightlife
There was a bit to do outside of work - within my sector there was a monthly social. I found that most interesting things happen at the weekend when working, however I often ventured away from Fujitsu employees to friends around the country to socialise.
