The Role
The placement was a fantastic experience and I thoroughly enjyoed it on a daily basis. It definitley exceeded my expectations!
Everybody at BAT are amazing, you truly feel at home and not just within your smaller team but the bigger team and other collueges too, Everybody makes you feel welcome.
There was never a time when I didn't feel supported by my manager, there is continual guidance throughout the whole year but with the freedom to make your own decisions too.
There is always something to be doing even on days when you're not in the lab you're in meetings, planning experiments or writing work up. There is always the support there as well to let your manager and your team know if there is too much work on at a specific time they are there to support you.
A lot! I managed my own project the majority of the time with recommendations and advice from my team and other employees. The responsibility given is great, it's a real insight into working in industry. The students are really trusted which is great!
I have learnt so many new skills, some very specific some transferable. Not only project work but also extra activities including networking, presenting and report writing to name a few.
The Company
I work within an open plan office which is great! It is relaxed and lots of laughs going on being quiet often when people are much busier.
Perfectly organised! Lots of introductions to different parts of the company when we first started as well as other activities throughout the year.
I have learnt so much being fully trained up on all relevant project skills. This has also included many transferable skills inculding presentation skills and much more.
