The Role
Really enjoyed my placement year at Intel. With their being a substantial amount of interns it was good for sharing experiences and for settling in. Work culture is relaxed and you are left to get on with your job once you have received training, but help is available when required.
Felt like part of a team and partook in regular team meals/events.
Supervisor was excellent and was always on hand to answer any question I had. I had also had weekly meetings with my supervisor and bi-weekly meetings to help progress and maintain a good standard of work.
Majority of the time I would be working for the majority of the day to get tasks done. Obviously there were peaks and troughs were work was extremely busy or quiet but generally workload was about right.
Left to deal with entire Business Units that if I neglected would not be 'cleaned' up by someone else.
Picked up many transferable skills and learnt a lot about the business side of It which with my course being Business and information technology should be really helpful.
The Company
Relaxed atmosphere allowed me to complete my work without feeling under pressure.
Very well organised and I was given a platform to take on more work in other areas once I had mastered my core role.
Training courses and development meetings were available for all interns like they were for full time staff/
Sports and Social Club
Subsidised/Company Gym
Financial Bonus
Company Parties/Events
Above 25 days holiday
Business Management Group which I work in has good employment rates for interns with around 40-50% being offered graduate places for after university,
The Culture
There was an intern Sports and Social committee designed to create events and promote socialising which I was a part of. I felt this helped to integrate amongst interns and full time staff alike.
Cost of living was cheap in comparison to university. However, Swindon's social scene is not great but located close to Bath, London and Bristol which is nice.
Very average but okay if a decent group!
Regular sports games were organised and many trips organised for those who wanted to attend,
