The Role
Overall, I really enjoyed my placement. It has provided me with a great experience of working in a large organisation. I now have a much clearer view of what industry/job I want to go into when I graduate.
Right from the start I feel I was treated as a proper employee rather than an undergrad on placement.
My manager provided me with any support I needed whilst I was settling in to the role. We often had meetings to catch up with how I was getting on and if I needed assistance on anything, help would be available.
This varied throughout the year. I went through stages where I would be very busy and would be staying late to ensure work was completed and then other times towards the end of the month you'd be less busy as you have completed all your monthly reports etc.
I feel like I was given a high level of responsibility, I was given the chance to manage the launch of two national campaigns alongside completing other work load.
The skills I have learnt will help me in the future a lot. From the little things such as communication and presentation skills, to the advanced excel and day to day tasks. These will all contribute to improving my chances of future employment. As well as providing me with a good work ethic for my final year of studies.
The Company
The overall atmosphere in my department was pretty quiet, yet everyone was friendly and offering to help if needs be. My team within the department had a friendly and enjoyable working atmosphere.
We recieved a lot of information prior to starting (schedule, housing support etc.). We were invited to attend two open days before we actually started placement, introduced to our department, familiarise with the office. In the first two weeks of starting, we had a handover period in which the outgoing undergrad taught us the basics of the job role.
When you first started, there were excel and presentation workshops provided to help you develop current skills. Later on in the year an advanced excel workshop was available.

There isn't a typical graduate programme available however, the company do tend to take on a limited amount of previous undergrads once graduated from Uni.
The Culture
With over 80 undergrads each year, there's a great social opportunity. Nights out are very common, large groups of us often go to different cities for a weekend away, great fun. Some of us have even been away on holiday together (take advantage of the airport on your doorstep).
Very cheap, but you do get what you pay for! If you're looking for something more upmarket, look on the outsideof Luton.
Poor. There's a few 'spoons/yates for your night out, its average at best. But if you're low on money and there's a group of you, you can still have a good night. Other places such as London, Watford, and Milton Keynes aren’t too far away and tend to be more popular.
There's opportunities to play football each week, great way to meet other people from different areas of the business.
