The Role
Overall, I found the work placement incredibly useful. I now have a much greater understanding of telecoms. Additionally, my placement has really prepared me for my final year at university.
I was so suprised by the level of support I received from everyone in my team. All of my colleagues went out of their way to make sure that I was fitting in well.
My line manager set up frequent 1-2-1's and was constantly supportive throughout. I had levelling sessions, ensuring that I was assessed during the placement. It acknowledged all the good work I'd done and constructively gave me areas for development. The team's HR partner, Martin Spence, regularly set up 1-2-1's to ensure I was enjoying the placement. The HR team really go out of their way to make sure you're ok
I had a clear agenda set out by my line manager. I was never bored. At times, if I felt that my work load was too much, I had complete confidence in telling my line manager.
Understandably, I had limited responsbility at first. However, my tasks and duties progressively increased during the placement.
This placement has given me a clear indication of what I want to achieve in life. The skills and training I have learnt have been immeasurably useful for my final year and beyond.
