The Role
I really enjoyed my placement and was lucky to work in two roles which really expanded my knowledge and the amount i got out of my placement
I felt like i was a valued member of the team and was not treated like an intern at all
I got a great level of support from my managers in the beginning and was encouraged to become independent after a few months
In the beginning i had less work to do as everything took longer however as i progressed in my role i was able to pick up more tasks in order to use all of my time effectively
I was given alot of responsibility from very early on and this was great. I had a high level of support in the beginning but became responsible for my tasks very quickly
I know the work ethic i will take from my placement will greatly benefit my final year. I also know that I will find final year a lot easier as i have the practical knowledge behind the theory
The Company
the atmosphere in the office was often quiet but that was expected due to the level of management in the office and the intensity of the work
My placement was very well organized with great reviews with my manager and personal development manager
I gained alot of experience and training on all the processed used that i will be able to take away with me

I am looking to apply back to IBM as they have a great graduate scheme and their finance graduates are involved in CIMA funded by the company
The Culture
There was alot of interns where I was based and therefore a very high social scene
I cost was not too bad as there are alot of students in portsmouth. The rent was quite high but the cost of living was fairly average
Just like any other student city.
we were heavily encouraged to take part in give back including working with close by schools. there are also lots of sports clubs and gyms.
