    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • Immense experience, with a holistic view over the majority of a hospital environment, really helped develop my sense of appreciation of every aspect of healthcare. Additionally, greatly aided my insight into what specific paths I would want to follow in healthcare.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • From the most senior staff to the individual patient, they made me feel more than welcome. Highly enthusiastic and motivational staff and patient, that are generally thrilled that there is still a large amount of prospective healthcare students.

    5/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • Great support, at each department there was generally one specifically assigned member of staff to guide me through their daily routines and responsibilities. Really helped me understand the specific roles of each respectable discipline within the field.

    5/5

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Mainly shadowing of staff, so not much interaction with many patients or staff, though the odd encounter with patients did help me develop my communication skills when it comes to sensitive situations. Also learnt a great deal about current treatments, procedures and different conditions.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • Very well structured, with a reasonable amount of time spent in each department, so that I could get as much insight as possible in such limited space of time. Very grateful to the organising staff that were very helpful.

    5/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • Wonderful atmosphere, even in the most stressful of times (for example, intense 4 hour surgery) everyone seemed generally calm and focused. Very welcoming and inviting to junior members of staff and students on work experience.

    4/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • As mentioned earlier this was mainly a shadowing experience, so I didn't have that much direct involvement, but the staff would still try to educate me on certain aspects and show me how they do things even though it is way beyond my level.

    4/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • Really helped me understand what a regular day entails, as the staff ensured that I wasn't just going through the same thing over and over, but that I had a look at a large variety of other activities.

    5/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • Having gone through the different departments, and even stayed along "behind the scenes" so to speak, I got to see the work ethic and understand the underlying culture that keeps everyone's spirits up, even during the most difficult of times.

    5/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • Very valuable, as I managed to learn more about the different specialties I was thinking of pursuing, and have now a deeper understanding that would help me decide in future.

    5/5

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • Since I didn't do any physical work, but it was merely an educational experience I didn't expect any payment or reimbursement.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • I spent each day with 2-3 different employees of different backgrounds, from junior doctors to highly experienced consultants, and even attended a departmental meeting, discussing current and future treatments.

    5/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • Other than during lunch hours, there wasn't much social/networking opportunities, as it was just normal days at work, giving me realistic insight, so this low rating shouldn't be taken as a negative.

    3/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • Not too much about activities outside work, other than asking different member of staff what they do outside work, its mainly all down to the individual.

    2/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • Definetly recommend this to a friend who is interested in any aspect of healthealthcare, the best way to learn about it is to actually just jump straight into it, even if its just watching other doing their job in the background.

    5/5
