The Role
A year of work placement is definitely the best experience possible, to set you up for life after graduation. I really enjoyed having the chance to experience the real business world and work with professionals in many areas.
I really felt like an equal part of the team and my colleagues were always willing to support .me
I always felt as if I had support and guidance, however I worked in a team that had many of the members working in remote locations. This can be difficult when trying to learn new things and you cannot interact face to face.
It changed throughout the year, some times I was busy and some times I had little to do. The variance is good, it keeps you on your toes.
During my placement, I felt as though I was given a lot of responsibility. I was in charge of my own tasks and i felt like a valued employee.
I study Business Studies and I have learnt so much about what actually goes on inside a real business, that you could never learn out of a text book. It has also shown me which career I do want to pursue now, I think you need this experience to have a clearer picture of the business world when doing assignments during your degree and also the career path you want to take.
The Company
Friendly and welcoming, I was based at one of the smaller offices at Manchester, so I could get to know other employees there quite well
Very structured with the assessments/reviews during your placement.
The company offers an extensive amount of self learning and also the employees are all willing to help you with whatever you want to do, that be training or personal skills.

The Culture
Yes, there were many social events, however you can be as social as you want with no pressure.
Not expensive, reasonable northern prices.
Nightlife is in Manchester city centre around 20 minutes for the office location in Sale. The nightlife in Manchester is great!
Yes many! For example, charity work, LGBT and many external events created by the company.
