The Role
It was hard work but i feel it was worth it. Being able to start at the bottom and work your way up ensured you knew everythign about the business
The management was keen to help out, although i did experience some problems with jealousy as I was being fast tracked up the training processes while it may have taken them a lot of years to get to the same point.
Everybody in Lidl runs, no one walks. You are always very busy, but as long as you are happy to be kept busy the days goes a lot quicker and it keeps it interesting.
Within 3 months of joining the company i was trusted to run shifts, being the only manager in store. They were very keen for me to be in charge. It was a struggle at some points and is very much a sink or swim kind of job
The placement helped me with my communication skills as I worked in 3 or more stores so had to get used to working with a lot of different people, and find out how best people worked. I am much more confident now about my management abilities.
The Company
Although I was always busy in stores there is always a good vibe as there tends to be no more than 10 employed within the store and usually 4-5 on a shift so everyone was very close.
It was very well organised with me knowing where i was going to be and exactly what i would be doing at every stage in the placement.
They invested a lot. We got to go all over the country seeing different stores, i got my personal alcohol license so i am now authorised to sell alcohol in any premise with a license and we write weekly reports for the Regional director so they knew what we doing and how they could help improve the experience
