The Role
I enjoyed my Placement Year at Vauxhalls, the company is very welcoming and has a great respect for its employees. Working amongst 20 other undergraduates made it easier to settle in/
I was given the chance to work all over Plant within different departments, working alongside various managers and colleagues. With every department i was welcomed and valued for the work i was doing.
I worked closely with my manager and was given aquedate support and guidance throughout my Year and many different projects.
Each day varied of different tasks, some larger than others, however i always had a job to do with a deadline to meet.
I was given a reasonable amount of responsibility in regards to my tasks. I manned various projects and worked alongside senior members of staff with private data in pieces of equipment.
I feel the technical and professional skills i gained will assist with my degree studied and beyond as i can apply my current knowledge gained from my degree to my professional career.
The Company
The atmosphere was light and friendly, the office was quiet enough to be able to concentrate and perform daily tasks however there was always someone to talk to if needed.
The placement was organised adequately. The only downside being the wait with recieving my uniform at the beginning of my Placement.
I was given the opportunity to attend online training courses, interview training and i was left with a handover guide from my predocessor for the year.
Company Car
Healthcare/Dental
Unfortunately, due to the limited staff in IT - there is no other jobs available. There is also no graduate scheme within the company.
The Culture
Due to other students living in different areas and having different working times there was very limited social scene between other students. Social scenes between colleagues didnt exist.
I lived at home as i lived closed to the area. I mainly socialised with friends outside of work.
The nearest nightlife was Chester however I live much closer to Liverpool and prefer to attend places like Liverpool.
Only one activity so far i have been involved with outside of work and that was running th Family Fun Day which happened on a weekend.
