The Role
Overall the placement has been enjoyable, with interesting and challenging tasks and projects to keep me busy.
Not all the work I was doing felt vital, and although it was enjoyable I doubted that I was valued by my colleagues as much as I could have been.
I worked mostly independently, which was something I enjoyed, and most of the time my manager would be available for support.
I was kept busy with multiple tasks, projects and admin. I rarely felt overworked, but always had something to be getting on with.
I was given some important tasks during my placement, but I would've liked to have felt more utilised and trusted.
I am far more employable than I would have been had I not taken a placement year. There are areas where I have gained knowledge that will help me immensely should I apply for a job in this sector, and in other related areas.
The Company
A good atmosphere with friendly, enjoyable conversation throughout the day with my colleagues.
Vauxhall have been offering placements for years, and it shows. My departmental tasks over the year could have been more organised however, as it would occasionally feel segmented and not linked in with the departments overall aims/targets.
I took part in some training courses, but my training mostly came from my own familiarisation with work guidelines, legislation, regulation and law. There was not much investment in my training, and this is an area I think there could be improvement,

The career progression at Vauxhall seems steep, with quick steps up the ladder and seemingly very good pay.
The Culture
The social scene with other undergraduates was good, with organised birthdays, meals and other events.
You can easily live on a student budget and save a good portion of the money that Vauxhall pay.
Chester and Liverpool are very nearby, and both are good are for a night out as they are both student areas.
There are lots of sports clubs and societies nearby that you could easily join for the year.
