The Role
It was a great placement- a truly great experience doing things I never thought a placement student would get the opportunity to do.
I worked in one of the smaller offices, so got to know everyone really well. Everyone was more than welcoming and always on hand to give advice!
I think KPMG are amazing for this- I was specifically assigned a line manager to assist my development- I set goals bi-annually and was coached and mentored to acheive these.
Due to the nature of audit, there were a few quiet weeks when I started when few jobs were happening so I was trained during these. I felt that once on client sites, I was given enough work to challenge me, but it was always manageable- it was quite flexible- if I finished my section I was able to help others with theirs and vice versa.
I was given real responsibility to cover certain areas of the audit independently- with responsibility growing with the more experience I gained.
I was given training on how to audit, which was useful to the job. I also was given training on Excel- which helps for my work and my uni. I also began studying for the ACA qualification, completing the knowledge set of exams- this will prepare me academically for final year, as well as for the rest of my career.
The Company
It was ideal- everyone was friendly, and able to have a laugh and a joke, whilst never letting the quality of work slip.
It was perfect- I was put through training, sent on courses, studied for professional exams, and gained on site audit experience
They trained me in specific areas of audit, paid for professional exams and study, and got me a mentor to coach me throughout my year.

The Culture
Yes- everyone was keen for social events :)
I lived in a student area so it wasn't expensive!
There were a few decent pubs and restaurants- I suspect other areas have more happening!
