About You
The Insight Programme was a fantastic introduction to Rothschild and the banking industry. Each day was very well organised, allowing us to get the most out of the week. Everyone was welcoming and friendly, and always happy to talk to us and answer our questions
Despite hearing a lot about Rothschild's unique culture before the Insight Programme, spending a week here allowed me to experience it first-hand. We had regular contact throughout the week with both junior and senior bankers, and they were always willing to help us with our project. HR were with us throughout all the events, and always willing to offer guidance and support
I felt that the right balance was struck between giving us guidance/support whilst still providing us with independence. I thought that giving us independence with our projects was important because it encouraged us to proactively research and learn more. This helped a lot in developing our knowledge and understanding of the industry. At the same time, the presence of HR in all the events was very useful because it gave us the reassurance that support and guidance was available if we needed it.
Experiencing how an investment bank works first-hand will be invaluable when undertaking future Internships. The presentation skills we developed will be useful when delivering presentations at university.
The Company
Each day was carefully planned to ensure that we could get the most out of our short time here. There were also a good amount of breaks between activities to keep us refreshed. It was really useful that the Training Room's were open after the day's activities had finished, as it gave us a good amount of time to prepare for our presentations.
Despite having busy workloads, everyone was really friendly, welcoming and supportive. I felt that everyone was approachable, and more than willing to talk to us.
Shadowing the analysts allowed us to gain an appreciation of the day-to-day activities associated with a full-time role at Rothschild. It was also helpful that we were given a lot of information on Rothschild's different business areas
I think that there is no better way to understand a company's culture than to spend some time at the firm
The Insight Programme confirmed to me that I would like to pursue a career in Investment Banking
Everything Else
There were a range of networking opportunities throughout the week. On the first day, we had lunch with recent graduates and afternoon tea with the Directors. We also had opportunities to shadow the GFA analysts, and they joined us for lunch throughout the week
The Directors were very friendly and down to earth despite their senior positions and experience. It was really interesting to hear how they started their careers at Rothschild. It was also fantastic to speak to and seek the advice of the Analysts, especially considering that they were in our positions not too long ago.
There was a presentation on 'Rothschild in the Community', which provided an overview of the wide range of volunteering activities on offer. During our tour of the premises on the first day, we were also shown the gym, which is available for use by employees
Certainly - as well as being a fantastic learning experience, it was also really fun.
