The Role
I have really have enjoyed my time at Caterpillar, job is interesting,I have learnt a lot about the different aspects of IT and it's a great company to work for.
From day one I felt like part of the team and also that my contributions are appreciated by those who I helped during my time here.
The support I have been given has been great if I was ever in need of help or advise there was always someone there to answer my questions.
Some days were a lot busier than others but there was always something to do, I would says it's been a good balance.
Was given a high level of responsibility, ranging from working on projects to upgrade IT system in the business from being one of the main contacts on site for desktop support.
The role has allowed me to develop many skills the main ones being: Communication both verbal and written Time management Team Work The ability to prioritize tasks Problem Solving
The Company
Was a medium sized office with a friendly and welcoming atmosphere.
Very well organised, there was good overlap with the previous placement for the first few weeks which allows you to settle into the role and understand your daily tasks.
I went on a few training courses that were helpful, but there maybe could have been more to help with my personal development.
Subsidised Canteen
Would love to come back and work for CAT if a role became available, I would like to think CAT would have me back if a position was available or if they needed extra staff.
The Culture
During my placement there wasn't other placement students on site which meant there wasn't any other people my age. But I spoke an got on well with everyone on but never socialized with anyone outside of work.
During my placement I lived in the center of Manchester in student accommodation. It was really well priced and the socializing was good because I was living with students a similar age as me.
Manchester is a great city with loads to do and a fantastic nightlife.
Yes I represented CAT a recruitment fair at Nottingham Trent university providing information to students about the company and the placements they offer.
