The Role
Excellent placement, very enjoyable.
Friendly atmosphere, nice and very knowledgable people to talk to and work with.
I had my own supervisor, who worked alongside myself in the lab, providing fantastic support. Very good support from management too.
Workload varied from day to day, but I was rarely too bored or too busy.
Fairly low levels of responsiblity to begin with, but you could take up more if you so wished.
I furthur developed my laboratory skills, and gained good knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry.
The Company
Office was fairly quiet, the lab was much more active and lots more fun to be in.
Good organisation in general, induction allowed an easy transition in. 3rd party company Hays were sometimes difficult to work with.
Occasional 'away days' and on-site conferences occured. Other opportunities were also availble if sought, but not as relevant to me.
Flexi Time
Sports and Social Club
Subsidised/Company Gym
National Travel
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Above 25 days holiday
No guarentee of future employment, but some opportunities would be available at graduate/phd level.
The Culture
Other students were great fun to work with, and to socialise with outside of work.
Fairly cheap area to live in, bars/restaurants were more average priced.
Not as active as university nightlife, but still lots to do.
Good number of activities available, although some travelling may be needed depending on where you lived.
