The Role
I enjoyed my work placement alot
I felt highly valued by my colleagues as the work I was completing was instrumental to projects
I was given alot of support and guidance by both day to day supervisors and line managers. I felt I could approach many people for help.
Busy - there was always work I could be doing but it wasn't too much - I would say the right amount of pressure
I was given quite alot of responsibility especially when my supervisor was away - this also meant I was invited to meetings and my imput felt valued
Great confidence in now working in the laboratory which will greatly benefit when completing a final year project. Having a whole year placement allows you to develop more than one skill/technique and become competent in those techniques especially compared to a summer placement hence greater employability skills
The Company
Friendly and felt involved. Socialised outside of work as well
Very well organised especially as the company was going through a transition period at the time
I wouldnt say they invested heavily in my personally but in the work I was doing they invested well.
Subsidised Canteen
Above 25 days holiday
Appealing - company is at the forefront of the industry
The Culture
very good - all socialised together alot and lived near each other. Company organised events as well
Alot cheaper than student living in a city
Couple of nice bars in Macclesfield and you can always head in to Manchester for a big night out
Yes both with colleagues and other placement students. Alot of discounts with AZ for things to do in the local areas and further afield.
