The Role
Really enjoyed the placement - a great way to combine all my aspirations: studying for a degree, using social media effectively and promoting careers a genuinely believed in.
I felt well valued and well supported. Even though I rarely saw my 'team' there was a good facebook page to keep me updated and regular emails from the team
I was well supported by the OCP team and given weekly guidance as to my tasks to perform.
It was variable - I was particularly busy in first term when I was attending presentations and writing reports, but generally the work fitted well into my daily schedule
I felt very responsible, particularly as I was the only Deloitte Ambassador at the Cambridge Campus
I think they were really helpful as many companies now look to employ people with marketing skills/ those who are savvy in social media, whether or not these are directly related to the job.
The Company
Difficult to answer as the role was based on campus rather than in the office!
I thought it was well organised generally, however there were some problems such as key elements of the campaign (e.g. the ipod touch for data collection) failing to be delivered despite constant emails. This somewhat hindered my work in the first term
I felt really valued and responsible, there was a training day and opportunities to apply for 'brand manager awards' which showed that the firm not only invested in us but encouraged us to invest in ourselves based on the skills they had helped us develop.
I really value the skills I learned during the placement, but as a future employer I am less certain as I am keen to go into politics.
The Culture
I was the only brand ambassador for Deloitte at my university so it was difficult to get to know fellow colleagues.
Living in cambridge as a student is quite expensive but manageable considering the loan and the limited time we have for socialising!
Good, fun and safe - a small student city with regular nights out.
Not directly related to OCP here, but I am sure a career with OCP at the head office would involve many.
