The Role
one of the best years i have had so far, have been able to experience what working in a large company is like , although its been hard work it has massively improved my future career opportunities.
given lots of responsibilty and were trusted to complete the job so felt very valued.
very helpful and knowledable , supervisor was a previous undergrad in my position so knows what the jobs like and knows which areas are hard to learn etc.
only a few daily tasks so spend most of the day dealing with issues as and when they arrive , so this can mean a very busy day where theres no spare time as somethings gone wrong , or it can mean a very quiet day whens theres not much to do . however this does give the opportunity to organise and re-group after a very busy and hectic time.
in this position you are given your own set of parts to look after, these are your sole responsibilty. this means if anything happens with the part is it my job to fix it nobody elses, this is a huge amount of responsibilty. this includes talking to suppliers , transport companies and the staff that work on the shop floor.
i think my core skills have greatly improved, for example ny communication and organisation skills. also received training such as excel , safe driving and redx. i will be able to add lots of things on to my cv. when i go back to university i can use my experiences to contribute to my written work and understanding of topics.
The Company
fairly small office so can build relationships with most people within the office, everyone is very welcoming, friendly and fun. They will happily help if you need assistance or have any issues.
very well orgnaised , 2 weeks handover period allowing you to get the right training and introduction into the company , there were also lots of social events that enables you to meet the other undergrads.
Had some training such as safe driving and excel.
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
they rarely hire graduates unless there is someone leaving from their department
The Culture
theres 2 week handover period allowing you to meet other undergads and get to know the people you will be working with, you can move in to halls in these two weeks so can easily make friends.
i communted from home so did not live in there area, nights out are cheap in luton though
luton is alright for a night out, london is easy to get to by train and theres also close surrounding areas such as watford.
football for guys , nothing for girls
