The Role
Benefited from many exciting opportunities and enjoyed working in a fun & supportive team, Stressful at times, but well worth it for the experience. Will be sorry to leave.
Given a lot of responsibility & felt trusted & appreciated within the directorate.
Really good support & guidance at the beginning of the placement . Bit more challenging during a team restructure, but always felt that there were people to reach out to.
Very busy at times, but dependent on how many projects I took on. Found that my workload varied throughout the week
Huge responsibility which grew throughout the year. Complete ownership of my projects and felt that I had the authority to push-back on stakeholders and make decisions
My placement was not strongly linked to my degree, but I have developed many 'life skills' which will be useful both next year & in the future
The Company
Varied depending on how many people were in- a lot of working from home/ from agencies. Really fun when everyone was in & always happy.
Development Days with the other students were a really useful opportunity to reflect & learn from each other. Only issue came with the lack of handover at the end of the placement- felt poorly planned & lots of effort required to have my contract extended. Would have been nice to have more frequent 1 on 1 catch-ups with HR to ensure that placements were going well.
Lots of opportunities & company welcomed me asking to attend extra meetings etc.

Disappointing that we don't get fast-tracked onto the grad. scheme in the same way as other placement students. Grad scheme numbers have also been reduced for our cohort, making it even more competitive.
The Culture
I lived with four of the other students which helped us feel closer to the uni experience. I was lucky to be in one of the more social areas of the business too & attended a few team nights out
Reading was not too expensive & public transport really good to get around cheaply.
Everyone drives into Bracknell, making it harder to soicalise after work. Tended to meet up with the other students in Reading, where there are lots of bars, pubs & restaurants. Frequently worked in London & opportunities there much better, would plan drinks with agencies or the rest of the team.
Opportunities to join sports teams & classes at the gym really good & cheap
