    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Waitrose is a great place to work, it has a great company culture that is very welcoming and supportive - and encourages a strong work life balance. The only place where the placement falls down compared to others, is there is no formalised progression structure to get onto the graduate scheme - and learning is mainly on the job, with not as much structured learning.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt valued by the whole team.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I was always given support and guidance when needed, and people were patient with my learning.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • My work was project based and admin tasks, When a project was on I was exceptionally busy, when they were not I was not as busy.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given and encouraged to take responsibility for events and projects. This was not forced upon me, and the student has the choice to take on as much or as little as they would like.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I feel like i am in a great position to do my dissertation now, and prepared to go into the workplace. I have also made a great support network who will mentor me while I develop my career.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • I was in a very friendly team with a great atmosphere.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The placement is what you make of it, there is no formalised structure. The placement is not badly organised, but it is up to your team to organise you so they can vary across the business massively.

    3/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Again, this is self driven. If you seek development opportunities they will be their, but minimal formalized structure is in place. We did have development days throughout the year to reflect on our time which were very helpful.
