The Role
I had a lot of fun at ProspectSoft, the job itself was challenging as well as fun, but I also got on really well with my colleagues which made a big difference.
It is a small company, so everyone knows everyone and they are all very friendly. Being given real work and important projects made me feel valued by my team and other co-workers.
There is always somebody to talk to if you need them which is very helpful especially when it gets stressful!
I found I was usually busy and my time was split over lots of different projects, which gave me a lot of variety and something to do if I was stuck or waiting on something else.
I started off with simple tasks and small projects, and gradually worked up to larger ones. As well as bespoke customer work, I also worked on a few projects that are now included in the core product.
I think I've become more confident and I've learned a lot by applying some of the material I studied in my first two years at Uni in the real world.
The Company
Always lots of fun! I got on really well with the guys I worked with, both in and out of work. There was always some banter going on. It was the same in other departments too, so it always felt quite relaxed even when you were working hard!
The familiarization day was a great help and they even gave me some local papers to help find accommodation. There was a lot of training to begin with and once the initial training and get-to-know you part was out of the way, I felt really comfortable. My manager was always happy to help me out with placement review meetings and appraisals.
We got a lot of internal training, and from time to time I was trained on the job to do other things. Most importantly, I was encouraged to develop my own skills.
Company Parties/Events
I've been asked if I want to come back on provisional terms, and I can't wait to start!
The Culture
The company is pretty young and we had at least one major night out every 4 to 6 weeks with everyone from placements to sales executives!
I did struggle for money this year, but mostly due to problems with accommodation & my car. Overall, it would have been better if I'd been a bit luckier but I managed alright on what I was being payed.
Wycombe isn't bad as there are a few pubs and restaurants. Its not far from Oxford, Reading or London either if you want a really good night out...
About 8 - 12 of us play football every week.
