The Role
My years placement at Microsoft has been absolutely amazing, It has been the best year of my life - I have learnt to grow personally and professionally and I cannot thank Microsoft enough for this experience. I have been given unbelievable opportunities that without this company and their placement scheme I wouldn't have had the chance to be exposed to.
As an intern at Microsoft, you are treated as an FTE. From the moment I started I was trained to play a significant role within my team and it has helped develop a variety of my skill sets.
My manager has changed three times whilst at Microsoft but I however haven't felt effected by this in a negative way. Every manager has done their up most best to help me fulfil everything that I want to do in my year,
I have a full time role so I am busy 9-5.30 every day. During different times of the year the level of work varies. This means that if we have an event coming up, the work load will be higher. However, if you ever feel that the work is too much or too little your manager is always there to support you.
I was given a lot of responsibility, I represented Microsoft on various occasions externally and have also lead different projects and events.
The skills and experience that I have learnt during this year will remain with me for life. A highlight for me was being given the opportunity to travel to Microsoft USA to work in the New York offices. Here, we were given the opportunity to learn about different business areas and this is a transferable skill that I can take forward with me.
The Company
Positive, The people all have the same nature. A great quote is that 'Microsoft hires intelligent people who are nice to be around' and I believe this. Everyone is willing to help each other out and everyone wants the best for each other and the company. There are so many people you can turn to if you have a problem or just want a chat. I have never met such a large group of people who get on so well - including the interns.
Amazingly well. The university staffing team at Microsoft are there to organise the entire internship and this is a great asset to the company. They are an amazing support to each intern if they ever need any assistant but are also fabulous at putting on events to make interns feel like one big community.
Every manager I have had has wanted me to learn as much as I possibly could. In addition to this, I was given the opportunity to travel to NYC to broaden my learning further. I will forever be grateful for this experience - I cannot thank the company enough.

I will definitely be applying to the MACH scheme at Microsoft. I couldn't think of a better company to work for.
The Culture
Yes - I have met friends for life. The intern community is amazing at Microsoft and the full time employees are always welcoming and are also great friends of mine who I go out with.
I lived at home but went out a lot in London. London is expensive as expected - but worth it!
Great! I love London!
Yes - there are sports teams etc. The best opportunity is being able to take part in projects outside of your role such as helping to educate young people who are not sure what direction they want to go in life.
